Kimstock Files for Chapter 11, Owes AQMD $100,000

Kimstock Inc., a Santa Ana maker and distributor of bath and plumbing fixtures, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

The company listed $10 million in debts and $10.8 million in assets in its bankruptcy filing. Among its 1,200 unsecured creditors is the South Coast Air Quality Management District, to which the company owes $100,000 in fines and other charges.

Kimstock was seventh on a 1987 AQMD list of the county’s greatest air polluters.

Neither Arthur K. Fuzak, Kimstock president, nor the AQMD attorney working on the case were available for comment on Tuesday.

Kimstock makes and sells plumbing fixtures, shower doors and bathroom products. Its bankruptcy file says the company owes $4.9 million to eight secured creditors and $5.2 million to unsecured creditors.
