Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : 2 Killed, Boy Shot in Murder-Suicide

A man stalking his former girlfriend shot her and himself to death in a crowded McDonald’s restaurant, wounding the woman’s 4-year-old boy as he sat on her lap, police in Hialeah, Fla., said. They said Beatrice Castillo, 27, was having lunch with her estranged husband and their son when Rafael Antonio Coiscoy, 34, burst in and shot her twice with a .38-caliber revolver. One of the bullets passed through the right shoulder of her son. Coiscoy then put the gun to his head and fired as the crowd raced for the doors, police said. “The boyfriend she has been trying to break up with appeared at the restaurant, saying, ‘This is how I wanted to catch you,’ and then he opened fire,” police Sgt. Jerry Freeman said. Coiscoy and Mrs. Castillo died at the scene. Her husband, Jaime Francisco Castillo, was unhurt. The boy, Jaime Jr., was hospitalized in fair condition.
