West Covina : Filling of Post Deferred

Share

The City Council voted unanimously not to appoint a replacement to fill the council seat left vacant by the death last week of William (Bill) Tarozzi.

Instead, the council decided to let voters elect a successor in the April 14 election.

According to a city ordinance, the council could opt to appoint a replacement or hold a special election during the next regularly scheduled election.

Jimmie Dixson, acting president of the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People’s San Gabriel Valley branch, asked the council Tuesday to appoint a minority to the post.
