Commerce Dept. Official Will Return to UCLA
Michael R. Darby, Commerce Department undersecretary for economic affairs, announced Tuesday in Washington that he will resign effective Jan. 4 to return to teaching at UCLA.
Darby was appointed undersecretary in May, 1989, and also served as head of the department’s Economics and Statistics Administration. Previously he was assistant secretary for economic affairs in the Treasury Department.
Earlier this month, Robert A. Mosbacher resigned as commerce secretary to head President Bush’s reelection campaign.
