BUENA PARK : City Seals a Deal to Revamp Center

Share

The City Council this week entered into an agreement with the Koll Co. and American Stores Properties Inc. to spruce up a run-down shopping center on the city’s western border.

Located on the corner of Lincoln Avenue and Valley View Street, the commercial center has been in the city’s redevelopment zone for the last seven years.

American Stores Inc., which is the parent company of Lucky Food Centers and Sav-On Drugs, was chosen earlier this year as the development company. The firm in turn picked Koll Co. to do the actual work, which the council agreed to Monday.

The estimated $20-million project will occupy 13 acres and encompass about 155,000 square feet of retail space. Besides Lucky and Sav-On, one or two other larger stores may be included, along with several smaller businesses.

Once completed, it is expected to generate more than $400,000 in annual taxes to the city.
