Cities Offer Recycling of Trees

Christmas tree recycling programs have been announced in several cities.

Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte Newco Waste Systems Inc. will offer a Christmas tree recycling program to customers in Arcadia, Monrovia and Duarte for three weeks beginning Thursday.

Residents may place their trees on the curb for collection on the same day as their regularly scheduled refuse collection. Trees must be free of metal stands, ornaments and tinsel.

The trees will be turned into mulch.

Glendora The city will offer its first Christmas tree recycling program, from Thursday to Jan. 10, officials said.

Refuse collectors will gather the trees on regular trash pickup days from Monday to Saturday. Crews will use a separate truck to collect only natural and flocked natural trees and wooden stands. Trees must be stripped of all ornaments.

The trees will be processed into mulch at a Los Angeles County Sanitation District facility in Pomona.

Diamond Bar The city’s trash haulers will pick up Christmas trees on Dec. 30 and Jan. 6 at regular collection times.

Residents should remove all decorations before placing the trees at curbside.

Trees will also be accepted at Spadra Landfill at 4125 W. Valley Blvd., Pomona.
