No-Fault Divorce

What a shame it is that the real villain in the Broderick case can never be held accountable: the California so-called “no-fault” divorce law, which favors and promotes divorce over marriage. This law permitted Dan Broderick to desert his wife, break up his family, sell the family home and openly set up housekeeping with his girlfriend, all with neither legal nor social penalties of any kind.

So long as the law favors desertion and philandering, there will be the possibility of a wife being driven to desperate acts by the pain, humiliation and helplessness of her situation. It’s time to change a despicable, grossly unfair law.
