Gov. Wilson’s Welfare Reforms

Share

Wilson’s very intelligent and reasonable suggestions on restricting welfare are sure to bring public assistance apologists out in droves, shrieking in protest. Why?

Having children they can’t afford is the reason many people remain mired in poverty in the first place. So one must ask the question--are welfare “activists,” the very ones sure to condemn Wilson for his policies, actually interested in improving the lives of the poor, or are they just interested in perpetuating the behaviors that have caused the problems in the first place so as not to lose their power base?
