Chula Vista Cabdriver Shot Dead in Robbery
A Chula Vista cabdriver was shot to death Saturday night in an apparent robbery, San Diego police said.
Jafar Barzanjy, 38, a driver for Coast Cab Co., was found by police at 10:45 p.m., slumped in the driver’s seat of his cab in the 7000 block of Akins Avenue in Encanto. A woman had called authorities to report that the taxi had been in front of her house for about two hours, police said.
Police said Barzanjy was shot in his right side and that he had been robbed.
The San Diego County medical examiner’s office had not determined Sunday how many times or where Barzanjy had been shot.
