World IN BRIEF : CUBA : Party’s Paper Feels the Pinch
From Times Staff and Wire Reports
Loss of paper from the late Soviet empire is turning the voice of Granma, official newspaper of Cuba’s Communist Party, into a whisper. Granma will shrink to four pages on three of the five days a week it publishes. It will have six pages on the other two days. The paper generally ran eight pages in recent months. Other newspapers are also feeling the pinch. Granma said Cuba’s 14 provincial dailies will become weeklies.
