The Buccaneers refused to comment on a newspaper report that a deal had been signed with former Giant Coach Bill Parcells, and another NFL source told The Associated Press that an agreement hadn’t been reached.

NBC, for whom Parcells is a color commentator, said it couldn’t confirm the various reports, but said he would be asked for comment during the network’s NFL pregame show today.

The Chicago Tribune, quoting unidentified NFL sources, said Parcells has decided to take the Tampa Bay job, reportedly for $7.5 million for five years, and is expected to hire former Bear General Manager Jerry Vainisi to help turn around the struggling franchise.

On Saturday, the club said Phil Krueger, who became the team’s first general manager last February, had resigned.
