GOP Stories Questioned

Share

This regards the inaccuracy in your reporting of the dissension in the Ventura County Republican Central Committee, of which I am the newest member.

I consented to a telephone interview with your reporter, as did other committee members. I was questioned at length about my religious beliefs, and although I felt this rather inappropriate, I cooperated and openly stated that I was, indeed, a Christian. And yes, I would even consider myself a conservative evangelical Christian. And yes, I was even pro-life! But no, I did not support our newly elected chairman, nor did those from the old guard, some of whom were also conservative Christians.

Yet your reporter wrote that the dispute was between the new members of conservative evangelical Christians and the old guard. This implied that anyone with common sense was from the non-Christian old guard, while the new members of conservative Christians were a bunch of irresponsible simpletons.

The truth is, not all supporters of the now ex-chairman are professed Christians, nor are the rest of us non-Christians.

Nor is the Eagle Forum a Christian organization as you stated in your Dec. 8 article (“County GOP Locked in a Power Struggle”). We are open to men and women of all religious persuasions; we are also nonpartisan.

This is just another example of how the liberal media promotes its own agenda: Not only is the news coverage biased, it’s often untrue.
