The King of Swing, Benny Goodman, will receive a tuneful tribute in Pasadena this week from former band members.

Clarinetist Peanuts Hucko, who played with Goodman in the mid-1940s, will conduct the Big Band Alumni Orchestra at 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ambassador Auditorium.

Goodman, who died in 1986, influenced jazz clarinetists and created a new form of jazz called swing. He reached the height of his popularity in the 1930s and 1940s. Hundreds of musicians worked with Goodman in recording sessions or on tour, and a few will be featured withHucko this week.
