Two-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Moses Files for Uncontested Divorce

Edwin Moses, the world record-holder in the 400-meter hurdles, filed for an uncontested divorce Tuesday from Myrella Moses, his wife of nine years.

The pending divorce is an amicable one to both parties, a spokesperson for Moses said. The couple cited irreconcilable differences in their marriage as reason for the divorce.

Myrella was the focal point of a film taken during Moses’ victory in the 1984 Olympic 400-meter hurdles final in Los Angeles, during which she anguished over her husband’s running of the race. In January, 1985, Moses was arrested for soliciting a plainclothes policewoman during a sweep against prostitution in the Hollywood area. After a jury trial, he was acquitted.

Moses also won an Olympic gold medal in 1976, and between 1977 and ’87 he was undefeated in 122 consecutive races.
