Shakespeare Troupe Plans Benefit Walk

Share

The recently formed Shakespeare Orange County theater troupe will hold its first annual “Will Power Walk” fund-raiser, a 10K and 15K walk through downtown Orange, on Feb. 8 at 8 a.m.

Proceeds will support productions in the troupe’s inaugural season, scheduled to begin this summer. Entry fee is $15, which includes a map of the walk route (it starts at Chapman University’s Waltmar Theatre), a T-shirt and admission to a post-walk reading and discussion of scenes from “The Winter’s Tale” by company members.

Shakespeare Orange County founder Thomas F. Bradac, who was ousted from the Grove Shakespeare Festival last summer after 12 years as its founding artistic-director, also has announced the new troupe’s first celebrity fund-raiser, scheduled for April 11.

With a touch of irony straight from the Bard, however, Shakespeare Orange County’s first newsletter gives the Grove’s phone number to call for $50 tickets to the affair, which features a play reading and silent auction.

“Boy, am I red-faced,” said Bradac, blaming force of habit for his faux pas. The correct phone number for information on either event is (714) 744-7016.
