Why PC Spells Political Controversy : CALL IT SENSITIVITY

Share

Pristin’s article provokes fear and bigotry.

Things change, thank God. The Anti-Defamation League of B’nai B’rith and the National Assn. for the Advancement of Colored People have had a marked influence on social conscience. Thirty years ago it was considered acceptable to depict blacks as servile simpletons, and the use of racial epithets was common not long before. It is still apparently acceptable to portray homosexuals as ridiculous buffoons. The causal relation between such images and violence is well-documented.

Why do some feel threatened by groups like the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation? The answer is found behind the use of PC --a catch-phrase for mean-spirited leaders who wish to frighten the majority populace into thinking that their rights are diminished by the increasing rights of others, as if justice were a limited commodity. Enter, David Duke.

Images in films form images in society. Of course GLAAD and others will capitalize on that. More power to them!
