Man Who Stole Church Funds Gets Prison Term

BUFFALO, N.Y. —
A former comptroller for the Catholic Diocese of Buffalo has been sentenced to 2 2/3 to 8 years in prison for embezzling about $1.4 million from the church.
Anthony Franjoine, who has admitted diverting grant money, donations and other church funds to himself, received the maximum sentence Friday. He has returned all but $276,000 of the money.
