Share

The Anheuser-Busch Community Health Mobile unit will visit East Los Angeles Jan. 22-23 to offer free examinations for such things as high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma and sickle cell disease.

Volunteer staffing will be provided by the Council of Black Nurses, Martin Luther King Jr. / Drew Medical Center, Kaiser Permanente Hospital and the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.

The Health Mobile was introduced in 1983 as a public service geared primarily for minority communities. The unit travels across the country, visiting an average of 50 cities each year and providing free screenings to more than 10,000 people annually. Based on the screenings, about 5,000 people have been referred to doctors for medical attention.
