New White House Lobbyist, Manager Named by Bush
President Bush on Tuesday named a new chief lobbyist and top manager for the White House.
The changes came amid predictions of a shake-up of White House personnel under Samuel K. Skinner, who replaced John H. Sununu as Bush’s chief of staff a month ago.
Bush named Nicholas E. Calio, 39, a veteran lobbyist and former White House aide, his assistant for legislative affairs. Calio succeeds Frederick D. McClure, who resigned last month to become an investment banker.
The President also placed Timothy J. McBride, his former personal aide, in charge of White House management and administration. McBride, 33, recently served as Sununu’s executive assistant after a stint as an assistant secretary of commerce.
