Haiti Politicians Boycott Meeting

Prospects of a quick solution to Haiti’s crisis faded Saturday when the post-coup rulers boycotted talks with exiled President Jean-Bertrand Aristide and he insisted on the removal of the “criminal” who ousted him.

“A golden opportunity has been lost,” Joao Baena Soares, secretary general of the Organization of American States, said after the talks with Aristide, ousted in a coup and forced into exile Sept. 30.
