HUNTINGTON BEACH : 22-Member Panel on General Plan Created

The City Council has appointed a 22-member panel to advise the council on updating the city’s General Plan.

The General Plan Advisory Committee includes representatives from each of 15 city advisory boards and community groups, along with seven members chosen by the council.

The panel includes Roy Richardson of the Planning Commission, Albert Ward of the Transportation Commission, Ellain Craft of the Community Services Commission, Jerry Person of the Historic Resources Board, Chuck Montero of the Environmental Board, Hal McDonald of the Library Board, Phil Mosbo of the Allied Arts Board, Beverly Titus of the Ascon Landfill Ad Hoc Committee, Jim Townsend of the Council on Aging, Dick Harlow of the Chamber of Commerce, Kirk Kirkland of the Huntington Beach-Fountain Valley Assn. of Realtors, Suzanne Buchema of the Huntington Beach Downtown Business Assn. Formation Committee, Lorraine Faber of Amigos de Bolsa Chica, Bob Biddle of Huntington Beach Tomorrow, and Jack Bowland of the Home Council.

The council-appointed members are Greg DeWolf, a businessman; Phil Zisakas, a business owner; Debbie Cook, an attorney and community activist; Roger Slates, a real estate agent, and Gerald Chapman, a doctor and community activist. Councilmen Jack Kelly and Earle Robitaille have not yet chosen their appointees.

The General Plan Advisory Committee, which will meet monthly, will review the city’s existing plans for land-use, transportation, housing and environmental concerns, and other issues. Most of the city’s General Plan has not been updated in more than a decade.
