After Being Fired by Rams, Jeff Fisher Accepts Job as 49ers’ Secondary Coach

Share

Jeff Fisher, fired earlier this month as defensive coordinator by new Ram Coach Chuck Knox, Monday night accepted a job as secondary coach with the San Francisco 49ers.

Over the weekend, Fisher also was contacted by the Minnesota Vikings and the Pittsburgh Steelers about their vacant defensive coordinator jobs, but Fisher was offered the 49er job Monday afternoon and had to give Coach George Seifert an answer that night.

Fisher, who has two more years left on the $170,000-a-season deal he signed the Rams last year, signed a two-year contract with the 49ers. The Rams will have to make up whatever difference there is in the yearly pay.

Former Seattle Seahawk defensive line coach George Dyer replaced Fisher on Knox’s staff.

The 49ers’ former secondary coach, Ray Rhodes, left to become the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator.
