Sen. Nickles Picked to Head GOP Platform Committee

Sen. Don Nickles, an Oklahoma conservative, was named chairman of the 1992 GOP platform committee Wednesday. His appointment by the Republican National Committee was seen as a gesture to the party’s right wing at a time when President Bush faces a primary challenge from conservative commentator Patrick J. Buchanan.
