Keeping His Word: Hank Williams Jr., whose “Don’t Give Us a Reason” was a hit with Gulf War soldiers last year, has given the American Red Cross $31,588 in royalties the song helped generate. The musical warning to Saddam Hussein was written as U.S. soldiers were heading to war. Williams said then that he would give the royalties to the Red Cross to treat wounded soldiers.
