California Desert Protection Bill

Share

The Times’ editorial vividly describes the political manipulation that national park issues face in California.

A statement issued by the National Parks and Conservation Assn. (NPCA) and quoted in the editorial, inadvertently overstated the number of people visiting California’s desert recreation areas last year. In fact, during 1991 nearly 3 million people spent more than an astonishing 23 million hours visiting the Joshua Tree and Death Valley National Monuments alone.

We invite Seymour to join the more than 280,000 members of the NPCA and support the protection of this unique and delicate ecosystem.
