NATION IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Jury Sees Tape of Slaying Confession

A jury in Deland, Fla., hearing the case of a prostitute who admitted to killing seven men was shown a condensed version of a videotaped confession in which she describes how she killed a motorist and tells police “I deserve to die.” Aileen Wuornos, 35, told authorities she and Richard Mallory, 51, of Clearwater, Fla., argued over sex and struggled in his car in November, 1989. She reached for her purse, and “when I grabbed the pistol out, I just shot him in the front seat,” Wuornos recounted on the tape made shortly after her arrest in January, 1991.
