In Sultan’s Defense

Share

Following up on the letters (Dec. 1) regarding the Sultan of Brunei’s real estate purchase in Beverly Hills, I find it both sad and disgusting that we find it acceptable to air such racist comments. It seems increasingly common when aimed at Arab and Japanese people. The French and British, who I believe are the largest foreign investors in this country, are never the targets of such invective. But then of course the French have such cute accents. Let’s just recognize such hate-filled letters for what they are--racism.

The comments about our country being sold to foreigners is especially ironic given the propensity of American corporations to own and control large chunks of property and resources of countries all over the world. What’s sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
