According to the U.S. Golf Assn.’s ranking system--based on bunkers, trees, hazards--it’s the Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club, which plays to more than 7,000 yards. Next is Dove Canyon Country Club, followed by Big Canyon in Newport Beach, then Mission Viejo Country Club. All are private. . . . The toughest public course: the Links at Monarch Beach.
