If American auto makers produce such lousy automobiles that are ill-equipped for Japanese tastes, why must Japan limit importation to 20,000 units in the next two years? Why are they so afraid of competition from an inferior product that they place over $10,000 per car markup to create a barrier to prevent the Japanese consumer from buying?
