OJAI : Hearing Planned on Needs of Disabled
The Ojai City Council will hold a public hearing tonight to allow local disabled people to comment on their transportation needs.
The hearing is being held to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The federal act requires cities operating public transit to devise plans by July for providing service to people with disabilities.
The service must be comparable to that provided to non-disabled people.
Comments from the hearing will help city planners incorporate the concerns of disabled residents into their plans to make the Ojai Trolley Co.’s service comply with the legislation, City Manager Andrew Belknap said.
