La Canada Flintridge : 2 to Run for City Council

Share

Two longtime volunteers have taken out nomination papers for the April 14 City Council election.

Neither Carol Liu, 50, nor David Spence, 55, said they have any criticism of the current council but both said they could make a contribution to the five-member board.

Liu, an eight-year resident of the city, is director of the 1992 Summer School sponsored by the Assistance League of Flintridge and heads the city’s Solid Waste Advisory Board.

She has also served as president of the La Canada High School PTSA, chaired the La Canada Flintridge Legislative Action Committee and served on the board of directors of the La Canada Flintridge Educational Foundation.

Spence, an eye-care products salesman who has lived in La Canada Flintridge for 23 years, is a member of the city’s Public Safety Commission and is on the board of directors of the Lanterman Regional Center for developmentally disabled adults.

He is also on the boards of the La Canada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Assn. and the La Canada Flintridge Educational Foundation. He and his wife, Alice, have two sons in their mid-20s.

The filing deadline is Feb. 11 for the election, in which two council seats will be contested.
