One Family’s Love and Courage an Inspiration

Share

Many, many times I have read your column feeling many emotions, but the reason for my response to you now is “Bright Angles.”

I, too, read the article about the Phans with sadness. I am glad that Nancy Torbitt took the time to respond.

I have worked, as a volunteer, for may years with organizations for the mentally and physically disabled. There are so many misconceptions about this group of citizens. They have so much to offer and there are bright times for these people as well as the families and friends that support them.

I can’t even imagine that first time that you are told that your newborn, child or adult-child is handicapped. Families need to know that they are not alone. Now there are so many magnificent organizations that encourage the growth of the disabled and act as support for the families. The bright angles to every situation.

Thank you so much. You are a special person for not only listening to a reader, but responding with a positive.
