* James F. Marshall has joined Plasma & Materials Technologies Inc., a Chatsworth maker of semiconductor equipment, as senior vice president of operations, the company announced.

Previously, Marshall was chief operating officer at Thermco Systems Inc., a manufacturer of furnaces used to make semiconductor equipment. He also served as director of operations and engineering of the Epitaxial Products Division of Applied Materials Inc., a Santa Clara maker of products for the semiconductor industry.
