Jews in the United States
Day is doubtless right that these are “troubling times for U.S. Jews.” But for essentially the same reasons, shouldn’t these be “troubling times” for Americans generally? Jews, and many like-minded non-Jews who stood and stand with them, can be proud that in their lifetimes they helped to create a modern Israel.
How untroubled should Americans be, who face a U.S. Administration determined to elevate the closed society of Islamic dictators and to denigrate the only open society in the Mideast, Israel? Does not common sense suggest that such an attitude abroad must have portents at home?
