CSUN Fined for NCAA Violation

Cal State Northridge Athletic Director Bob Hiegert announced Tuesday that the NCAA fined Northridge $1,000 for violating a rule involving non-renewal of scholarships.

NCAA regulations require notices of financial-aid termination be made in writing on or before July 1. Northridge officials conducted an internal investigation and reported the violation after an athlete complained about losing his scholarship last summer.

Northridge was fined for failing to inform pitcher Marty Kilian that his financial aid would not be renewed.
