‘Curly Top’ to Open Film Fest in Fullerton
The Muckenthaler Cultural Center begins its monthly Sunday Film Festival this weekend with “Curly Top,” a 1935 movie starring Shirley Temple.
The diminutive actress won’t be alone on the Muckenthaler bill. Along with “Curly Top” will be a pair of Mickey Mouse cartoons.
The series continues March 8 with “The Gold Rush,” one of Charlie Chaplin’s best, made in 1925.
Next up is “How Green Was My Valley,” scheduled for April 12. The 1941 film, directed by John Ford, stars Maureen O’Hara and Walter Pidgeon.
The Marx Brothers’ anarchic “Duck Soup,” released in 1933, will screen May 17.
The series ends June 14 with “Around the World in 80 Days.” The 1956 movie, directed by Michael Anderson, stars David Niven, Cantinflas, Shirley MacLaine and Marlene Dietrich.
All films screen Sundays at 2 p.m. at the center at 1201 W. Malvern Ave., Fullerton. Tickets: $2 to $4. Information: (714) 738-6595.
