Allie’s and Bob’s Big Boy Outlets Bought: Restaurant Enterprises Group, operator of some of Southern California’s best-known restaurant chains, has acquired 107 Allie’s and Bob’s Big Boy restaurants from Marriott Corp. and plans eventually to convert them into its Coco’s or Carrows chains. The Irvine-based company said that it paid $66 million for the restaurants, which together had 1991 sales of more than $100 million, and has an option to buy six more restaurants for a total of $2.6 million. “These restaurants provide a unique opportunity to strengthen REG’s presence in California, where our family restaurant divisions, Coco’s and Carrows, already enjoy a strong position,” REG President Norman N. Habermann said.
