WORLD IN BRIEF : PANAMA : Authorities Report Plot to Kill Endara

Panamanian security agents plotted to assassinate President Guillermo Endara and kidnap top officials in an attempt to take control of the country, authorities said. “They were going to execute the plan in December, but because the police learned about the plot, it was postponed,” Police Chief Oswaldo Fernandez said in Panama City. Former police chief Col. Eduardo Herrera was arrested in connection with the alleged plot.
