Fugitive Caught After Applying for CIA Job
A fugitive who was arrested when she applied for a job with the CIA after eight years on the run pleaded guilty Friday to hijacking a jet to Cuba in 1983.
Cheryl Ivonne Worthy, 35, who has spent much of the past decade in Cuba--where she was sentenced to 15 years in prison in the incident--and in Africa, admitted one count of air piracy in federal court.
Authorities said Worthy was arrested by an FBI agent after she returned to the United States from Africa in July and applied for a job with the CIA.
Officials said they would seek a 20-year jail term with parole possible after two years served.
