Diamond Bar : Funds for Service Programs
The city will use an expected $169,916 in federal Community Development Block Grant funds to pay for a future senior citizens center and to support three local service programs.
The City Council voted Tuesday to give the Diamond Bar/Walnut YMCA $15,000 to continue after-school day-care programs.
The Montclair YWCA will receive $4,500 to implement its teen-age girls’ leadership program in Diamond Bar junior high schools.
The local Boy Scouts of America chapter will receive $3,000 to send boys from low-income families to summer camp.
The city has yet to determine where, or when, the center will be built. But lawmakers promised $1,000 to the Diamond Bar Lively Seniors organization for continued rental of space at the YMCA.
Like last year, the bulk of the funds will be earmarked for the center. With the latest allocation, the project’s funding totals $270,000.
