Individual Lighting of 4 Ball Diamonds Will Save Energy

Four heavily used baseball diamonds at South Gate Park will have new lighting by March 31, city officials said. The $127,800 project is being financed through a state parks bond measure that provides money to cities for recreational capital improvements.

City officials said the new lighting system will save energy because each diamond will be individually lighted. Presently, all four must be lighted at the same time.
