Fire Station Riddled With Shotgun Pellets

Los Angeles city firefighters returned from an early morning call Saturday to find the front of their Mt. Washington station riddled with shotgun pellets.

Investigators believe somebody fired four rounds from a shotgun at the cinder-block-and-stucco building at 1410 Cypress Ave., shattering two vent windows in an equipment storage area and leaving a pellet-size hole in an office window, Battalion Chief Dean Cathey said.

All four firefighters at the single-engine station were out on a call when the shooting occurred. They returned at about 2:15 a.m. to find the damage.
