California IN BRIEF : SAN FRANCISCO : Ex-Rock Star Now Running for Judge

Barry Melton was on the stage at Woodstock. Now he wants to be on the bench in San Francisco. Barry (The Fish) Melton announced his candidacy for San Francisco Municipal Court judge, challenging incumbent Judge Donna Allyson Little. Melton played lead guitar for the rock band Country Joe and the Fish in the 1960s. He became a lawyer in 1982, after passing the California State Bar exam. Melton has been practicing criminal defense and entertainment law in San Francisco since 1983.
