Pollution Research & Control Corp., a Glendale maker of pollution measurement devices, reported that its fourth-quarter profit surged to $213,000, an 86% increase from $114,000 a year earlier. Sales more than doubled to $1.9 million from $796,000.

In all of 1991, Pollution Research earned $686,000, in contrast with a loss of $2.82 million in the previous year. Revenue climbed 70% to $6.99 million from $4.11 million.

The company attributed its improved financial results to its contract to provide pollution monitoring devices to Air & Water Technologies Corp., a Branchburg, N.J.-based environmental treatment and services concern.
