Western Digital Seeking to Play Role in Mexico

Roger W. Johnson, chairman of Western Digital Corp., said Tuesday that he traveled to Mexico last week to open discussions with Mexican industrialists to help them bring new generations of computers to market.

Johnson spent two days in Mexico City talking to Mexican government officials and business leaders. The trip was organized by Robert A. Mosbacher, President Bush’s reelection campaign manager and a former Commerce Department secretary.

“It represents a long-term opportunity” for Western Digital to sell its manufacturing technology to Mexican computer companies, Johnson said.

Western Digital, Orange County’s largest computer products company, manufactures computer components such as chips and disk drives.
