Japanese auto makers are considering increasing car and truck prices in the United States to compensate for the strength of the yen.

Spokesman John McCandless said Tuesday that Toyota is considering an increase, but would not comment on its timing or size. He noted that the yen has appreciated 9% since last summer.

President Yutaka Kume reportedly told Japanese reporters last week that Nissan Motor Co. is considering raising prices.
