Until the other day, Bonnie Blair and speedskating Coach Peter Mueller had been uncertain whether Blair would skate in today’s 1,500-meter race. Mueller announced last Friday that Blair would.

However, after she had won the 500, on Monday, and with the 1,000, her second-best event coming up Friday, Mueller is undecided how she will skate today.

“We’ll have her go out and skate the best she can and see where that puts us,” Mueller said. “After the first 700 meters, if she’s in contention, we’ll keep her going or (if she is not) shut it down.”
