These films have been recently released on video:

“Double Impact” (Columbia TriStar, $93). One critic snidely noted that martial arts star Jean-Claude Van Damme playing twins gives him twice as many chances to show he can’t act. Critical consensus about this box-office hit: too much chatter, not enough action.

“Pure Luck” (MCA/Universal, $93). A slapstick-loaded, buddy action comedy about the search for a missing woman, featuring Martin Short and Danny Glover. It was generally ripped by critics.

“Iron Maze” (Academy, $90). This confusing, unsatisfying mystery, starring Bridget Fonda, is an updated version of “Rashomon,” examining the murder of a Japanese businessman from several points of view.

“Teacher’s Pet” (Paramount, $20). A charming, 1958 romantic comedy pitting a tough city editor (Clark Gable, in one of his last movies) against an idealistic journalism teacher (Doris Day). Gig Young co-stars as the heroine’s brainy boyfriend.

“House IV” (New Line, $90). Starring William Katt, this parade of haunted-house cliches is low-brow fun.

“Driving Me Crazy” (SVS/Triumph, $90). A German inventor (Thomas Gottstalk) tries to peddle a pollution-free car in smoggy L.A. in this comedy, co-starring Billy Dee Williams.

New on Laser: “The Killing Fields” (Warner, $40), “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf” (Warner, $40), “Camelot” (Warner, $40), “Valley of the Dolls” (Image, $40), “Days of Wine and Roses” (Warner, $40) and “The Jungle Book” (Disney, $30).
