Council Ready to Reject Slicing Off of Ridge Line

After six years of debate, the Glendale City Council has indicated that it is ready to reject a developer’s proposal to slice off a ridge line for 22 homes with million-dollar views in an upscale area of Glenoaks Canyon.

Council members Wednesday instructed city planners and the city attorney to draw up a resolution that would prohibit cutting a prominent ridge on the 30-acre site in the rugged canyon. That measure is to come before the council next week.

Developer Ken Doty’s proposed subdivision was one of only four exempted from a moratorium on hillside development imposed by the city in 1990. Councilman Dick Jutras cast the only vote in favor of Doty’s proposal, which he said met all of the city’s rules for hillside development.
