Caterpillar, UAW to Resume Contract Talks: Contract negotiations between Caterpillar Inc. and striking United Auto Workers are scheduled to resume Wednesday in Missouri, the two sides announced. The talks are aimed at resolving a 3-month-old labor dispute at the heavy equipment manufacturer that has idled nearly 10,000 workers in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Colorado and Tennessee. Talks between the two sides collapsed Oct. 31. More than 2,400 workers struck at Illinois’ Decatur and East Peoria, Ill., assembly plants Nov. 4. The company has since locked out 5,600 workers in Aurora, Ill. and another East Peoria plant and laid off about 1,400 elsewhere.
